Hej Kids, I’m doing some “Blogging” . Oh ya.
These are my favourite albums from 2007, in no apparent order. Check them out if you haven’t yet. They’re all really good stuff.
1. Amiina, Kurr. Best Song: “Hilli”
This Icelandic 4 piece female band has played with Sigur Rós for a long time, but now have relased a full album. Its not as good as the EP from past years, but its some nice nice tunes.

2. Caribou, Andorra. Best song: “Melody Day”
This album brings it on right from the start. BAM. Its really great in some parts and lacks in others. Has kind of a 60’s sound, with electronic action. Cool canadian band. Sounds like Fourtet in the Canadian Rockies on some uppers. Just say no! But listen to this album.

3. Sigur Rós, Hvarf / Heim. Best song: “Vón” and “Heysátan”
New, well kind of new from Sigur Rós. New versions of some songs, and 5 new tunes. I was a bit skeptical at first of my *favourite* (one of many) band re-releasing some songs, and then only slapping down 5 new tracks, but WOW, this is good good stuff. The new versions of old songs are really fantastic, and the new songs are good too. They really have their whole thing together now after a short break. Everything they do and touch turns out amazingly.

4. Jens Lekman, Night falls over Kortedala. Best song: “A Postcard to Nina” and “And I Remember Every Kiss”
Jens is so great. I just realized it this week, but yes he’s good. He’s sweet, and not pretentious and the naïvety is very appealing. This album is now my favourite of his, (of the moment) . Its not a classic yet, but its on the way. This is a man who will not be going anywhere any time soon.

5. Joanna Newsom, Y’s. Best Song: “Emily”
So, technically this was out in the end of 2006, but oh well. It deserves another year. Still Joanna is one of the best chicks around. She did lots of touring and good stuff in 2007, as well as an EP. So maybe the EP is technically 2007. But this CD gets better and better each time. All of the tracks are so epic and amazing. I own 4 copies of this to keep in each room.

6. 50 Cent, Curtis. Best Song: “Movin On Up”
Damn, 50 is GOOD. Really good. I totally wrote fiddy off a few years ago, thinking his voice was just really henious and he didn’t bring it, but he definitely does. He’s definitely the finest of the breed out there now. So focused!

7. The Tough Alliance, A New Chance. Best Song: “Something Special:
If you don’t know TTA yet, too bad! This is another Göteborg band, mates of Jens Lekman and co, TTA are way ahead of the wave, yet nobody knows it, which is good. I don’t want to say too much. At their shows they don’t play instruments, or barely sing. Its just a riot of dancing and a hitting a drum and causing a scene. Most people don’t get it, and that’s more than fine with me.

Maybe I’ll start a podcast. Watch out NPR. I’m going to whoop the ass off On Point and Africa Today.
Check these out.
